EventBooking.com Celebrates 10 Years as a Green Technology (posted June 16, 2009)

EventBooking.com has served up a paperless, online booking solution for the entertainment industry since its official launch in 1999.

Some EB clients report decreased paper usage thanks to the efficiency of EB's online solution.

“Our Conference Center side has gone completely paperless since you worked with us to accommodate their needs on EB.com,” Kim Bedier, General Manager at Comcast Arena at Everett said.

“This has definitely allowed us to cut our paper usage and also has made booking much more efficient.”

"Sustainability and Saving Money" is one of the professional development sessions at the 2009 IAAM Tradeshow, one piece of evidence that industry professionals want to take advantage of the economic benefits of going green.

Saving paper is a green initiative that also saves money. One 20 lb case of printer paper costs $35 to $40 at Office Depot. Going digital can save a venue hundreds of dollars per year in paper and toner costs. The anywhere/anytime access of an online solution makes it possible to go digital.

“The ability to work online helps our effort to keep things digital and reduce our paper use,” Alison Kool, Event Marketing & Sponsorship Manager at Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment in Toronto said.

In addition to paperless savings, clients who subscribe to SaaS (Software-as-a-Solution) providers such as EventBooking.com save server energy resources with their software hosted off site.

Tia Jones, the Internet Marketing & PR Specialist at Central Desktop provides insight into server power savings:

“Based on the Energy Information Association's info on the average cost of power per kilowatt hour (kWH) in 2008, eliminating just one server would reduce your power bill by about $400 per year. And that doesn't include the cost of keeping it cool,” Jones said.

Kool referenced EventBooking.com efficiency as a means to conserving additional resources in her building.

“EB has helped us integrate all of our building scheduling, which helps each department work together more efficiently…for example, more precise scheduling helps us take out the ice sooner, thus cutting down on energy consumption.”

“EB has helped us serve our clients quickly which makes our use of resources more efficient,” Kool said.
