Our latest “Coffee & Conversation” features Liz Mackenzie, a passionate and driven member of the EB marketing team. As Marketing Specialist, we are so thankful for all the skill and organization she offers on a daily basis. Get to know her a little more in this brief Q & A!

Q. Describe your “perfect” meal, complete with dessert.

A. My Mom’s homemade toasted ravioli sprinkled with parmesan cheese and meat marinara sauce for dipping, a nice side salad with Italian dressing, garlic bread and a piece of devil’s food cake with white icing for dessert.

 Q. What’s something about you that might surprise people?

A. I had never flown on an airplane until I was 26 years old. Now I have traveled and flown more than most average people ever have or will.

Q. What’s something you know more about than most people?

A. I have spent a great deal of my personal and professional life planning travel for myself and colleagues all over the world. It has made me sort of an expert 😉

Q. What is one of your favorite places that you’ve traveled to? Why?

A. New Zealand, the youngest land mass to be created on Earth.  Of all the places I have traveled to, this is by far the most beautiful, breathtaking place in the world. My husband was born and raised there so it’s also nice to go back and regularly visit all of his family that still lives there.

Q. What’s your favorite movie? Favorite book (or favorite Artist/Band)?

A. I have several favorite movies—ones that I will watch over and over again if I come across them while channel surfing. They are Dirty Dancing, Pretty Woman, Grease, The Sound of Music, Love Actually…I could keep going. I don’t really have a favorite book but my favorite artist is Colbie Caillat—I don’t think she has ever made a song I don’t like.

Q. If you could have dinner with one person (living or dead) who would it be?

A. My Grandma. She passed away when I was 25 and I miss her. I would love to get a chance to hear stories about her life and ask her for advice, as I didn’t take advantage of that enough when I should have. She was an incredible larger than life woman and had a heart of gold.

Q. What’s something you’re passionate about?

A. Helping people—I think I am a natural caregiver and truly enjoy people relying on me.

Q. What’s something you would tell yourself 10 years ago?

A. Be present and prioritize your family and friends. “Because in the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing your lawn. Climb that damn mountain.”

Q. If you could master one skill you don’t have right now, what would it be?

A. Not sure if it’s a skill, but I would love to be more creative—in writing and just in general.

Q. What are your personal hobbies?

A. Spending time with my family and friends, traveling to new places any chance I get, watching my son play any and every sport, and I really LOVE shopping with my mom (and 16 year old daughter—when she likes me haha)!

Q.Who inspires you?

A. I find inspiration in several people and things but I think the person who has most greatly inspired me is my sister. By watching her live her life, she taught me to stay focused and goal oriented, no matter what obstacles come my way.

Liz, it’s an absolute honor and joy to have you at EB!
