Happy Birthday to our beloved Director of Product & Consulting! Brian Chia isn’t the boasting type, but if he was, you would know that he’s won two different awards for his customer service efforts here at EB—and now he can boast of another year of life! Brian is a passionate and driven member of the EventBooking team and we’re so thankful for his leadership. Q. What is your role at EventBooking and what do you like about that role?
A. I am the Director of Client Success; I lead the team that provides consultation, training, and technical support for the people that use our products. It’s incredibly rewarding to hear our customers bragging on our amazing team and how we have helped make their jobs, and their lives easier. I also serve as a product manager, synthesizing customer feedback directly into the software we make.
Q. Describe your “perfect” meal, complete with dessert.
A. I’d skip the salad and go straight to a medium rare New York strip, minimally seasoned. Maybe throw a grilled lobster tail on the side. I’m not a huge dessert person but you can’t go wrong with some soft-serve vanilla ice cream.
Q. What’s something about you that might surprise people?
A. I’m an Eagle Scout.
Q. What is one of your favorite places that you’ve traveled to? Why?
A. Zurich, Switzerland. It’s incredibly modern and metropolitan but has a certain old world charm you wouldn’t expect from a major international city.
Q. What’s your favorite movie?
A. The entire Fast and the Furious franchise is my guilty pleasure. I’ll keep watching them as long as they keeping making them, and they don’t appear to be slowing down.
Q. If you could have dinner with one person (living or dead) who would it be?
A. Napoleon. I’d ask him what he was thinking when he sold Louisiana.
Q. What’s something you’re passionate about?
A. Always learning. I’m a huge nerd and can’t help but learn as much as I can about anything new I do, whether it’s something extremely interesting or mundane.
Q. What would you tell yourself 10 years ago?
A. Don’t worry about what others think. Don’t over-analyze things. Get more sleep!
Q. If you could master one skill you don’t have right now, what would it be?
A. Either singing or speaking another language fluently.
Q. Who inspires you?
A. My parents. They are both immigrants and entrepreneurs, both incredibly loving and with tireless work ethic. They’ve both taken big risks and made sacrifices to get to where they are today.
Q. What are your personal hobbies?
A. I train and compete in various strength sports including powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting, and strongman. I love traveling and experiencing different cultures and customs. I like hiking, camping, backpacking and pretty much anything outdoors. I spend all day at work in front of computers so I like getting away from screens when I can.
Happy Birthday, Brian!
