Happy Birthday to our very own, Kalyn Sisco! Kalyn is the core engine behind our marketing initiatives. Her energy and get-it-done mentality inspires us all.  In this brief Q & A session, we get a glimpse into her world and what makes her tick:

Q. Describe your “perfect” meal, complete with dessert.

A. Grilled Salmon, grilled asparagus (with goat cheese and toasted almonds), and carrot cake or baklava for dessert (with a cup of coffee).

Q. What’s something about you that might surprise people?

A. I’ve visited 16 countries thus far, with plans to visit many more!

Q. What is one of your favorite places that you’ve traveled to?

A. Although Seville, Spain will always have a piece of my heart from my study-abroad semester, Ireland was incredible. Not Dublin, because it was very touristy—but everywhere else I went in Ireland was beautiful.

Q. What’s your favorite movie? Favorite book?

A. Movie: I’ve always loved Henry Poole Is Here, an independent film starring Luke Wilson, but the most recent Les Miserables starring Anne Hathaway had me crying in a theater bathroom stall after I saw it on the big screen. My philosophy for movies is this: The more you cried, the better the movie.

Book: To Kill a Mockingbird. For a while after reading it, I was convinced that I was going to name my future daughter Harper Lee and call her “Scout” as a nickname. The Chronicles of Narnia come in as a close second.

Q. If you could master one skill you don’t have right now, what would it be?

A. Playing the guitar or dancing (like recital-quality dancing)

Q. Top three favorite bands/artists:

A. John Mark McMillan, The Avett Brothers, The Killers/Brandon Flowers (the lead singer of The Killers)

 Q. What would you tell yourself 10 years ago?

A. What would I say to 13-year-old Kalyn? A lot, but I’d tell her not to bother dating in high school—it’s pointless. Better to wait until college. I’d also tell the poor girl that her terrible complexion won’t always be that horrendous (“Hey girl, prescription-grade acne medication is your friend”).

Q. What is your role at EventBooking and what do you like about that role?

A. As Marketing Manager, I love coming up with creative ways to engage prospective clients. I particularly enjoy crafting the right tone through copywriting, shooting and editing our video content, as well as creative design projects in Photoshop and InDesign. The people I work with are also incredible, so that’s a plus.

Happy Birthday, Kalyn! It’s a true joy to have you on the team at EB!
