Happy Birthday to our very own comedian and clergyman, Troy McNeil. Troy is a developer for our latest software product, VenueOps, whose sense of humor can cure any case of the Mondays and whose beard won a company-wide superlative for “best beard” (not pictured). Read about his affection for Madden, Brazeiros, and Bob Dylan in our latest Coffee and Conversation.
Q. What do you love about your role at EventBooking?
A. I love this role because I get to work with some of the smartest people I know. I am often the dumbest person in the room as a result, but I consider it a blessing in this scenario.
Q. What’s something about you that might surprise people?
A. I am a pastor at Grace and Peace Church in East Knoxville. Before working as a developer, I was a worship pastor.
Q. If you could have a meal with one person (living or dead) who would it be?
A. C.S Lewis
Q. Describe your “perfect” meal, complete with dessert.
A. Brazeiros and their creme brulée for dessert.
Q. What is one of your favorite places that you’ve traveled to?
A. I went to a wedding in Ohio Amish country one time. I was able to visit their local market on a Saturday morning. I bought Amish made cola and some theology books. Everyone around seemed sober with joy. It was a joy that was rooted in permanency. The fullness of that memory has resonated with me for a number of years now.
Q. What’s your favorite movie, book, and artist/band?
A. Forest Gump, Watership Down, and Bob Dylan
Q. What’s something you’re passionate about?
A. I am really passionate about the local Church
Q. What would you tell yourself ten years ago?
A. “Don’t bank on that sweet metabolism of yours.”
Q. If you could master one skill you don’t have right now, what would it be?
A. I have a really strong desire to master the game of Madden. I love that game so much. It scares me how much I love that game.
Happy Birthday, Troy! It’s a privilege to work with you here at EB.
